L�on-Jean-Bazille Perrault (1832-1908) original oil painting on canvas depicting a very detailed portrait of a young woman. Signed "L. Perrault" to upper right corner. Perrault was a French academic painter. He was born to a modest family. A student of William Bouguereau and Fran�ois-Edouard Picot, he exhibited at the Salon from 1863 onwards, producing many genre works which were immensely popular. He was famous for his le petit naufrag� (The little shipwrecked boy, 1874) and his paintings of children. Measures 18" (46cm) height by 14" (36cm) width plus 6" (15cm) gold gilded frame.
