Edouard Pail (French, 1851-1916) oil painting on canvas of landscape. Holds signature to lower left. Measures 39" (99.06cm) width by 33" (83.82cm) height plus approx 4" (10.16cm) frame. Edward Pail is the son of a native painter Piedmont and a mother from her hometown of Corbigny (Nievre). He was a pupil of the painter and engraver local Lavoignat Hippolyte, a friend of Camille Carot, and studied at the School of Fine Arts of Nevers. Provenance: From an Italian lady, 80 years in age, residing in Miami. She and her husband were lovers of antiques and purchased items, mainly artwork, from antique stores and auctions. She lived first in Italy, then in Venezuela and currently in the USA.
